I have photographed many weddings at Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn, but every wedding is different. Each couple has their own style, and their relationship is unique. This is why I don’t go into any wedding, regardless of the venue, with preconceived notions of how I am going to photograph it. Paying attention to a couple’s likes, dislikes, and the story of their relationship gives me insight into how to better capture them as they are.

Some couples are more formal, while others, like this couple in particular, are more relaxed. Note the groomsmen wearing Converse sneakers and the food truck for late night Brooklyn warehouse wedding snacks. Or from all of the well thought out and produced DIY elements of the wedding.

For this particular wedding, I spent the time learning the relationship shorthand for this couple – the John Hughes movie-esque story of them meeting when they were teaching at the same school, her love of Grey’s Anatomy (we often spoke of what was going on with the show and sometimes still do) – this knowledge helped me develop a kind of shorthand to use with the couple to quickly get them relaxed or in the particular mood that we were collectively trying to get for the photos.
